The Duelly Noted Audition Process...

A cappella auditions can be a little nerve-wracking. We know, we've been there. To help make this process as painless as possible, here's a run-down of what you can expect in a Duelly Noted audition in four easy steps!

Step 1 — Sign up!

This part's easy. Sign up for a time slot on the sign up sheet in FoJo South. Auditions (open to all Hamilton students) will be held in August and January. If you can't make any of the times listed, contact us and we will find another time that works for you!

Step 2 — Prepare

Select the song you want to sing. Pick something you love and that you feel shows off your voice. Don't worry if you can't riff like Beyoncé or croon like Jason Mraz, just pick something you feel comfortable singing. You only need to sing a verse and a chorus, and we can give you a starting pitch if you need. You'll be singing a cappella, of course, and the song should be memorized (but don't panic if you slip up on words; we'll understand!).

Step 3 — Show up

Arrive in FoJo South (by Wellin Hall) a few minutes early, grab an audition sheet from the table and fill it out (or click here to download the form so you can print it and fill it out beforehand). Chill in FoJo and we'll come get you when we're ready!

Step 4 — The Audition

In the audition, we'll first have you sing some scales. We're just looking to see where you voice falls, so don't worry if you crack on the high notes or croak out some low ones! We'll then play some four note patterns on the piano, which you'll sing back to us after hearing.

Then it's your time to take the stage and shine! Have fun and show us what you've got.

Any questions?

Contact us any time and we'll get back to you ASAP.
